In eager anticipation of the joyous occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ, His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios guided the faithful through meaningful Christmas celebrations at two prominent Antiochian Orthodox parishes.

On the eve of Christ’s birth, St George Cathedral resonated with prayer as His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios presided over the Great Vespers and a five loaves service, joined by Fr Nabil and Fr Theophan. The congregation fervently sang the troparion for the feast, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere that set the stage for the celebration of the feast.

The festive spirit continued the next day at St Nicholas Church, where His Eminence, joined by Fr. John, Fr. Romanos, and Fr. Phillip, presided over Matins and Divine Liturgy. The congregation gathered to partake in the joyous commemoration, uniting in worship and reflection on the significance of Christ’s birth.

As the services concluded at St Nicholas Church, the resonant beats of drums from the Antiochian Orthodox Stewards welcomed Eminence. This musical interlude added a festive note to the celebrations, symbolising the shared joy and enthusiasm of the community during the Christmas season.

We wish a blessed feast to our beloved community. Christ is Born, Glorify Him!
