On Saturday 9th September, Church school teacher volunteers across Australia were blessed and honoured to have His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios present the fourth session of the Basic Orthodox 101 course. There was a total of 28 teacher volunteers in attendance both face-to-face and online.
His Eminence Basilios spoke about the need for all Orthodox Christians to cultivate a good spiritual life that is Christ-centred. Some practices that His Eminence Basilios said were essential included daily reading of the holy scriptures, reading the lives of the saints, knowing the teachings of the Holy Fathers, experiencing Holy Tradition and being open to spiritual guidance.
His Eminence Basiliios also spoke about the importance of living a life of repentance and Askesis. The tools that support the Orthodox Christian in the spiritual struggle to attain Theosis include fasting, prayer, attending and understanding the services and almsgiving and the power of saying the Jesus Prayer daily.
All those who attended gained great benefit and strength from the talk.
