On Saturday the 4th of February 2023, under the patronage of His Eminence Basilios, Church school teachers, ACOY youth leaders, parents and children attended a smaller blessing of the water service at the Antiochian Orthodox Youth Centre, to commence the 2023 education and youth ministries new year.
Following the service, Metropolitan Basilios gave an enlightening talk about the difference between the relaying of information in worldly education and the transforming teachings and power of the Holy Spirit through church teaching. Deacon Theophan gave an update on Church school developments and activities.
Deacon Jason spoke about the history and growth of the St Paul Orthodox Christian Education (SPOCE) program and encouraged all people to enrol and attend a course to broaden their understanding of the Orthodox faith. Andrew Abou Sleiman spoke about the success and growth of the ACOY annual events and Fr John Daher emphasised the importance of the media and communication aspects of the Archdiocese, in keeping up with the evolving technological world.
