On Thursday 28 July 2022, His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios gave a talk at the Antiochian Youth Centre on struggle with our thoughts and passions. It was a blessing to have youth from several parishes across Sydney come together in a spirit of fellowship to deepen their Orthodox faith.
His Eminence shared the wisdom of the Desert and Neptic Fathers who provided many insights into how we ought to battle thoughts that would lead to enslaving passions. His Eminence discussed the importance of practising prayer, fasting, watchfulness and confession in combatting such thoughts. The youth were reminded that “thoughts don’t characterise us” and that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.
More spiritual talks will be held in the future for the benefit of our youth, so that they may deepen their Orthodox faith and continue to grow ever closer to Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
