On Friday 25th February, under the patronage of His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios, St Raphael’s Mission celebrated the Feast Day of St Raphael of Brooklyn and St Raphael’s 10 year anniversary with a Hierarchal Vespers, followed by light refreshments.
The Hierarchal Vespers was presided over by His Eminence and concluded with the recognition of four individuals and one family for their outstanding contribution to St Raphael’s Mission in 2021. St Raphael’s Mission faced a challenging year last year with lockdowns and LGA restrictions and these individuals kept SRM’s feed the homeless service running throughout the 3 month period, taking on the weekly responsibility to prepare and run the service when the Board members couldn’t due to the restrictions. Each award recipient received a Certificate of Appreciation as well as an icon of St Raphael of Brooklyn and a commemorative 10-year anniversary gift from His Eminence.
Each family who attended the service also received a commemorative 10-year anniversary gift from His Eminence as a thank you from St Raphael’s Mission for the love and support that has been received by all over the last 10 years. St Raphael’s Mission would also like to thank His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios for his love, support and guidance over the last 10 years. Even with his increasing responsibilities, he is always present with us at Board meetings and feeding the homeless with us when possible. We pray he continues to support and guide us throughout the years to come.
St Raphael’s Mission would like to thank St Nicholas Punchbowl for hosting us for this year’s Feast Day celebrations.
St Raphael’s Mission looks forward to celebrating its 10 years of service with you all at a larger event later in the year.
