On Friday 26th February, St Raphael’s Mission celebrated the Feast Day of St Raphael of Brooklyn with Hierarchal Vespers as well as St Raphael’s Mission’s 9th year of operation with the Blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios.
The Hierarchal Vespers was presided over by His Eminence and concluded with the recognition of a number of individuals for their outstanding contribution to St Raphael’s Mission in 2020. Each award recipient received a Certificate of Appreciation as well as an icon of St Raphael of Brooklyn from His Eminence.
Following on from the Hierarchal Vespers, 110 people including clergy attended the St Raphael’s Mission’s Fundraising Dinner. The dinner was one of celebration. Celebrating the love and support of everyone who donates and supports SRM; celebrating the volunteers who give up their time to support SRM Initiatives and celebrating the achievements of SRM over the last year.
The night was filled with great food, a performance from the St Kassiani Archdiocese Choir, a video update of SRM’s initiatives in 2020 as well as the Metropolitan Address. The love for St Raphael’s Mission was truly felt on the night.
St Raphael’s Mission would like to thank St Mary’s Mt Pritchard for their generosity in donating their hall and the catering service, meaning that the money raised from all entry tickets as well as the raffle tickets will go 100% towards St Raphael’s Mission’s Feed the Homeless Service and future initiatives.
Thanks to the generosity of you all, St Raphael’s Mission was fortunate enough to raise approximately $10,000 from the Fundraising Dinner. St Raphael’s Mission is greatly appreciative of your support and generosity over the past 9 years and looks forward to celebrating its Jubilee year next year with you all.
