On Friday the 18th of February at St Nicholas Church, an HSC Celebration Ceremony was held for the outgoing 2020 HSC students. It was an excellent evening of reflection on the achievements of the HSC students and God’s presence in their lives during a difficult year.

The evening began with a beautiful speech by former HSC student Maya Marta on her HSC experience and in particular the role of faith in God and regular Church attendance in giving her peace and stability through all her exams.

His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios then gave a talk congratulating students on their achievements and providing them with guidance for their future decisions. Students were advised that there is a role for them in the Church and that they should stay connected.

His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios opened the floor to the former HSC students and gave them an opportunity to express their thoughts on the past year, the role of faith in their journey, and any plans for future study. This part of the evening was particularly rewarding for students, family members, friends, and clergy present as it gave the community a broad insight into the perspectives and experiences of the younger generation.

The night ended with refreshments in the hall and great conversations between the former HSC students, many of whom met each other for the first time on the night.

We encourage all the attendees to stay in touch, get involved with ACOY, and make the most of the like-minded network of friends they made on the night. We wish them all the best for the years ahead and pray that God guides them in this next chapter of their lives.
