Settlements Engagement and Transition Support Project (SETS) has established a Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) which consists of young people, aged between 16-24, and newly arrived to Australia within the last 5 years. 12 young people attended the first YAC at our base in Mount Pritchard.
The aim of the SETS YAC is to:
- Provide opportunities for volunteering, or to support young people in accessing volunteering opportunities such as internships or work experience, to improve their employability.
- Working with young people to think about, and articulate their goals, for the future.
- Supporting family members to understand and support a young person’s goals and pathways, including understanding the Australian education and employment system.
- Provision of youth activities to facilitate wellbeing and social participation in collaboration with various partners.
- Provision of leadership seminars for young people
