A delicious Middle-Eastern breakfast sebheyeh to help feed the homeless!
On Saturday 15th June, St. Raphael’s Mission (SRM) held it’s much anticipated annual ‘Punchbowl’s Biggest Sebheyeh’ event, with just over 150 people attending.
After the celebrating of the Divine Liturgy to commemorate ‘The Saturday of Souls’, the faithful were gathered in the hall of St. Nicholas Hall taking their seats as His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios, commenced the function with a prayer and few words about SRM. With the blessing over the food and the occassion, attendees filled their plates and watched a video highlighting the achievements of the mission since its establishment in 2012. This was followed by the cutting of a cake with the icon of St Raphael of Brooklyn, the Patron Saint of the mission, by His Eminence.
The day continued with a donut eating competition, the sounds of laughter from the children on the jumping castle and the friendly chatter of all the people who attended. The day concluded with the drawing of the raffle, which consisted of approximately 25 prizes that were generously donated.
It was great to see the community spirit alive, from those attending, those who helped set and pack up, to those who donated a food item or raffle prize. It was a day full of fun love, laughter and great tasting food and we can’t wait for the next one!
The day was a success due to your generosity and support, helping SRM raise around $4,000 to feed the homeless.
St. Raphael’s Mission, would like to thank all those who attended and for the continued support.
