ACOY Victoria’s annual ‘ACOY Month’ series was a journey through the Resurrection Gospels commenced with great enthusiasm and reverence. The month-long event aimed to delve into the profound teachings of the Resurrection Gospels and foster a deeper understanding of the faith. Five speakers led the enlightening sessions held at various locations, guiding the attendees through the narratives of the Gospels.

The journey began on Monday, the 24th of April, at St George’s Cathedral, where His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios provided a general introduction to the 11 Resurrection Gospels during Matins. The evening commenced with an opening prayer followed by the St Ephraim the Syrian choir of Melbourne chanting a selection of Paschal hymns.

The second talk took place at Good Shepherd on Tuesday, the 2nd of May, where Sub Dcn Tim Grace gave insight into the Great Commission through the Gospel of Matthew.

Moving forward to the 11th of May, parishioners gathered at St Paul’s to listen to Johnny Rabahi educating us on the second and third Eothina Gospels found in St Mark.

Continuing the series, St Mary’s hosted the fourth talk on the 17th of May, with Fr George Mattar as he spoke about the three Eothina Gospel readings from St Luke.

The final talk of ACOY Month took place at St Nicholas on the 25th of May, with Fr George El-Khoury who spoke about the last five Eothina Gospels of St John.

Throughout ACOY Month, the attendees were fortunate to receive teachings from all the speakers who shared their wisdom and deepened our understanding of the Resurrection Gospels. ACOY Victoria expresses heartfelt gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios, the speakers, and all those who attended the talks. We hope this series of talks have encouraged all to attend Matins and have a deeper appreciation for the service.
