Under the patronage and blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios, the Bible Study group of St Thekla equal to the Apostles and St Silouan the Athonite had their Annual Retreat from 24 to 26th of March at the Monastery of St Michael in Goulburn. Led by Archimandrite Ephram.
In attendance were Fr Romanos and Fr Deacon Luke. The group had a spiritually uplifting weekend. Archimandrite Ephram talked about “The Virgin Mary and how her children look up to her”.
Fr Romanos gave a talk on “The humility of the Virgin Mary in the act of Salvation”. Besides the various sessions, Gospel and spiritual competitions were very well attended with a good contest among the attendees.
The group was very grateful for the prayerful ambience with the Lenten services including the Akhatist Hymn, Vespers, Matins and Divine Liturgy celebrating on Saturdays the feast of the Annunciation and St John of the Ladder on Sunday.
Many new faces who attended this year expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to the clergy who organized such a successful camp on many levels.
At the conclusion, the participants received a holy icon as a token of love and in the hope that this Great Holy Lent be acceptable to Christ who accepted humility and crucifixion for the salvation of humanity.
