St Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church Kirrawee held its first Church School Retreat on Saturday 8 October 2022 at St Michael’s Parish. It was a successful day for all 17 students who attended as they learnt about Repentance and Confession.
The day started with a prayer in the church and then a fun icebreaker game. Then students moved off into their groups to learn about what is sin and how our earthly distractions sometimes lead us to miss the mark of being God’s children. They also explored the Sacrament of Confession and its purpose in bringing us back to God. The students enjoyed a pizza lunch and then proceeded to the church for a chat with Fr Nektarios and a group photo.
The final session of the retreat involved students learning how to replace sinful acts with good works by creating their own heart collage. Lots of learning and fun was had by all.
We look forward to more retreats in the future to continue learning about the Orthodox faith.
