On April 20th, His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios presided over a Vigil service for the Theotokos of the Life-giving Spring at Saint Mary’s Mount Pritchard.

Assisting him in the service were Archimandrite Ephram Abbassi, Fr. Michel Zghaib, Fr. Jean Mawal, parish priest Fr. Isaac Zghaib, Fr. John Daher and Dn. Theophan Nahas.

The feast was celebrated with ecclesiastical splendour, with the faithful still filled with immense joy at the Resurrection of the Lord. The feast of the Life-giving Spring is celebrated each year on Bright Friday (the first Friday after Pascha).

In his sermon, His Eminence spoke on the historical and theological meanings of the feast, referencing the Synaxarion and particular Odes of the Canon from the Matins service. He also announced that the Chapel at the Antiochian Aged Care Facility would be dedicated to the Theotokos of the Life-giving Spring, a proclamation that the faithful promote and believe in Life.

May God grant many years to all who celebrate the feast of the Life-giving Spring.

Christ is Risen!
