On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Mr Stephen Kamper, MP, the Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, visited the office of H.E. Metropolitan Basilios in Punchbowl.

H.E. Metropolitan Basilios welcomed the honourable visitor and accompanied him to visit the currently under-construction St. Nicholas aged care centre. The project will deliver care and support for ageing members of the Antiochian community and is conveniently located adjacent to the St Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, Punchbowl.

Mr Stephen Kamper was impressed with the progress of the building of the new aged care and the quality of work.

Hon. Stephen Kamper has announced that the NSW Labor commits $2.5 million to support the Antiochian Community:

“A NSW Labor Government will provide $2.5 million to the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese to support its plans to deliver quality aged care for senior members of its community. The $2.5 million will help complete the 80-bed Aged Care facility currently under construction in Punchbowl”.

He added: “NSW Labor recognises the important contribution the Antiochian community has made in NSW, from the education of young people through to caring for seniors. Multiculturalism makes our state stronger and more vibrant-and the projects we are funding will make a real difference in the lives of people right across NSW”.
