With the blessing of his Eminence Metropolitan Basilios of Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, and under his patronage, the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church and its Parish Association held the St. Elias Children Antiochian Gallery and Orthodox Display Event on Sunday 18 September 2022 between 1:00 and 4.00 pm.

The objective of this Event was to celebrate with our local community and present our Antiochian Orthodox faith, culture and history. The display of the Sunday School children’s books and children’s art was of foremost importance. Additionally, we were celebrating traditional cuisine and folkloric music throughout the afternoon with our committed Ladies committee and our beloved Choir members.

The day was commenced by the St. Elias Troparion, chanted in both Arabic and English, by our parish priest and our St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church Choir. The National Anthem was sung afterwards, and the exhibition was open to everyone. The guest speakers took to the stand and delivered their speeches, and Fr Georges concluded with a welcome speech.

The official representatives who attended were:

Angela Evans; Mayor of City of Charles Sturt

Hon Steve Georganas; MP Federal Member for Adelaide

Helena Kyriazopoulos; CEO MCCSA – Multicultural Communities Council of SA

Maria Eliadis; KDG Partnerships and Architect of the Community Connectors Project

We were thankful to the Cultural Connections in Disability Project Partners and the Multicultural Communities Council of South Australia for the Sponsorship of this Gallery Event. We were also thankful to the Government of South Australia and City of Charles Sturt for the support of the Live Music at the event.
