On Monday the 11th of July, His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios presided over a vigil service commemorating Saint Paisios the Athonite at Saint Mary’s Mount Pritchard. Assisting him throughout the vigil were Archimandrite Ephram, Fr. Romanos, Fr. Isaac and Dn. Theophan.

The devout faithful came from different parishes to honour the 20th-century Saint, who is the youth patron at Saint Mary’s Mount Pritchard. The hymnography referred to Saint Paisios as a “heavenly man and earthly angel”, speaking of his virtues and the divine consolation his God-inspired words gave to the faithful.

In a concluding word, His Eminence encouraged the faithful to continue honouring the Saints of the Church by attending the services commemorating them, which cultivates a personal relationship between the Saints and those who ask for their fervent intercessions.

May we all have the blessing of Saint Paisios!
