On Monday, June 14th, the Queen’s birthday long weekend, ACOY NSW held its annual Sports Gala Day. Over 160 players registered from across our NSW parishes, to participate in the highly anticipated Oz-tag competition.
The day commenced with prayer led by our clergy in attendance, reinforcing that our presence at this event, was first and foremost, in the name of The ascended Lord and secondly, for us to congregate together as brothers and sisters, in fellowship with one another.
The day was jam-packed, with each team playing 4 games in the qualifying rounds, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and then the highly anticipated grand-final.
Saint Mary’s Mays Hill and Saint John the Baptist Croydon Park, faced off in a fast-paced and skillful game, in which Saint John’s came out as the winners. His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios was on hand for the presentation ceremony where he presented both the runner-up and winners medallions, as well as the cordial State Cup Shield to our victors.
We sincerely thank all the participants, the various sponsors, and all the organisers who made the day successful.
