‘Connect Fridays’ is a new initiative run by the Antiochian Christian Orthodox Youth (ACOY) committee and inspired by His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios, with its first session held on Friday the 5th of March.
This initiative, which takes place on the First Friday of every month at 8 pm in the Antiochian Youth Centre, is an opportunity for youth from the ages of 16 and above to meet each other, socialise, and enjoy Christian fellowship.
His Eminence blessed the first session of Connect Friday’s and emphasised the importance of using this new regular event to develop friendships with like-minded youth. At this session, many of the youth appreciated being able to reconnect with friends made at previous events, including the recent ACOY retreat held in Goulburn. Games and food were also available, along with the opportunity to see and appreciate the excellent facilities on offer, including the room where the regular Divine Lantern podcast is recorded.
ACOY encourages all youth to attend Connect, particularly during Lent, as it provides an opportunity for them to strengthen their faith by interacting with their brothers and sisters in Christ. We pray that this Friday was a beneficial opportunity for youth engagement and that the same sense of community felt will continue into Lent and onwards.
