On Sunday the 7th of February, St. Mary’s Antiochian Church of the Dormition launched a series of talks entitled ‘Life in Christ’. These monthly talks will be held on the first Sunday of every month and are targeted towards the English-speaking youth and young adults of the Archdiocese.
The night began with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios. Afterward, His Eminence inaugurated the series with his talk on what it means to live a Life in Christ. He highlighted parallels between the spiritual life and biological life, likening Baptism to birth, Holy Communion to essential food, and Confession to a cleansing bath.
His Eminence also spoke of three necessary pillars for a Life in Christ: Ascetic life, Liturgical life, and Sacramental life. He encouraged the faithful to be disciplined in their prayer life, to regularly attend the Liturgical services throughout the week, and to constantly partake of the Holy Mysteries in the Church.
Finally, His Eminence concluded by emphasising that a Life in Christ is one that springs from Christ, and who is the source of Life. Our lives are, as His Eminence proclaimed, “from Christ, with Christ, and for Christ.”
