With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios, St John The Baptist Antiochian Orthodox Church Arabic School in Croydon Park celebrated its Annual Christmas Concert.
On Friday the 18th of December, the Arabic School held its annual graduation ceremony and concert. The ceremony began with prayer, led by Fr Elias Albaba and Fr Ephraim Abbassi, followed by a theatrical performance (Arabic Christmas Carols), performed by the students as well as students sharing something about their experiences of exploring their cultural heritage, and their family history in Arabic.
Although it has been a very challenging year during the pandemic, the teachers and students persisted with their lessons. At first via Zoom and later with face-to-face lessons once restrictions eased.
The formalities concluded with teachers, volunteers and students being recognized for their time, dedication and commitment. A small fellowship followed for the graduates.
A special thank you to Issa Albaba who runs the Arabic course at St John the Baptist and makes it all possible for the children to have the opportunity to learn Arabic.
Congratulations to all of our students and a big thank you to the parents for entrusting us with your children’s education.
We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2021!
May the upcoming year provide our parish and this amazing initiative much success and growth as we continue glorifying and praising God with one voice and with one heart. Amen
