Merry Christmas to all our young mums and families! On Friday 6th December we had our annual Christmas gathering. We were very fortunate to have His Eminence Metropolitan Archbishop Basilios join us to celebrate this festive time of the year.
With a delicious spread set up by our mums for all ages, we gathered together and heard some inspiring words from His Eminence. He expressed how happy he was to see all the children and mothers enjoying themselves and having a special time and place to meet each month. He also shared some words of encouragement about the Christmas period, assuring us that it is fine to let children enjoy the idea of Santa while they are young and to receive gifts. His Eminence had some valuable suggestions around helping children be grateful for what they receive and asked mothers around the room to share their experiences in teaching children the value of giving. We all walked away with some great ideas to start building a sense of giving and generosity in our children.
As the children were finishing up their art and craft activities, Santa happened to stumble across our little gathering bearing a gift for each child. The children were very grateful that the man in red was able to take a break from his busy work in the North Pole and while some weren’t huge fans, others were super excited for a hug and photo with Santa!
Many thanks to His Eminence for regularly coming along to spend some time with our group and always there to support us. Thank you to all our speakers and volunteers throughout the year who have given up their time for the welfare and support of the mothers and families in our group. Lastly, thank you to the beautiful mothers who have attended our gatherings and helped to build our group. You are all working so hard at forming important relationships, supporting one another, and making sure our children are integrated and part of our Church community.
Blessed Nativity to all! +
