On the 4th of July 2019 and under the patronage of His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios, Metropolitan of Australia New Zealand and the Philippines, and in an atmosphere of love, joy and happiness, the Archdiocese’s Ladies Lunch was held at Kafarhilda Association Reception in Lakemba.
His Eminence, Clergies and more than 200 women attended the lunch. During lunch Metropolitan Basilios addressed the women of our community. He emphasised on the important roles that our ladies play in the life of the Orthodox Church.
He said: “That we have in our church Martha and Mary which are both needed, and they complete each other. We need the women who work hard, and we need the women who pray for others.”
Also, His Eminence mentioned that the Archdiocese is in the process of organising more opportunities for the women to gather in retreats to grow spiritually.
His Eminence thanked everyone involved in organising, preparing and participating in such a great event which showed the unity between our faithful in our Archdiocese.
At the end of the gathering, clergy and members of the Ladies Committees have chanted a few Hymns for the Theotokos and a Raffle with prizes was drawn.
