His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios, presided over the Pentecost Divine Liturgy at St. George Cathedral, Redfern on 16 June 2019.

The liturgy was followed by the Kneeling prayer service. Sayedna gave a message of strength and hope that emanates from the feast of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles in fiery tongues as follows:

His Eminence stressed on the importance of the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church, specifically through sacramental fulfilment; is the giver of life, and gave power to the disciples who in turn established the Church. H.E. went on to speak of the divine grace which always heals that which is infirm and completes that which is wanting. We as faithful must endeavour to activate the Holy Spirit which was given to us on the day of our Baptism. Our role models are the disciples, who before the descent of the Holy Spirit, were in fear, were scattered and in hiding, though when the Holy Spirit came upon them with faith they took courage and began to preach Christ to the whole World establishing the Church by preaching the good news of salvation. Finally, the goal to achieve in our life, as Christian faithful, is the acquisition of the Holy Spirit who leads us to the Spring of the Living Water.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Sayedna met the teachers of the Sunday school and the Children in the Cathedral hall where they were celebrating the Birthday of the Church. The Sunday school children were excited and joyful to see and to speak with Sayedna, and also offer a presentation, where they chanted the troparion of the feast and other songs pertaining to this blessed and holy occasion.

Once again the Parish of St George Cathedral expresses their sincere thanks and gratitude to His Eminence, Sayedna Basilios for his fatherly love and care.
