On Tuesday April 2nd, the Antiochian Christian Orthodox Youth, better known as ACOY, hosted their 4th instalment of their annual Journey to the Resurrection series. This year, the theme of the series was centred around the services of Holy Week, with His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios, delivering the fourth talk on Holy Thursday.
The talk was held at St George Cathedral, Redfern, and was preceded by the Great Compline service.
His Eminence discussed the events of Holy Thursday which we commemorate throughout the service, including the washing of the disciples’ feet, the Last Supper, Christ’s prayer in Gethsemane and the Betrayal of Judas. His Eminence further explained the significance of each of these events in the liturgical life of the church and within our individual spiritual lives, and the overall importance of Holy Thursday in the context of Holy Week.
It was a blessing to have his Eminence with us on this evening to provide invaluable education to our youth and reinvigorate their spiritual efforts throughout the remainder of the Lenten journey. We look forward to continuing the rest of this journey series with our beloved youth members. May it be a fruitful and blessed lent for all.
