“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matt 19:14)

These powerful words were brought to life as the young families and children of Sts Peter and Paul Parish, Doonside were encouraged to participate first hand in an evening hierarchical Divine Liturgy presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios on Sunday the 14th of April 2019.

“I am here to show you my support and thank you for your hard work…” said His Eminence as he thanked the parish priest, Fr Aziz, the choir, Sunday School teachers and other committee members for their dedication to the children and English-speaking parishioners.

Following the liturgy, a fellowship took place in the hall where the children presented the mural they had created at their Sunday School Day Retreat on Saturday the 6th of April 2019. The mural showcased Saint Peter’s boat, representing the miraculous catch of fish which resulted when Jesus told Simon (Peter) to cast his net on the other side of the boat.

The large fish on the mural where prepared by the older children and feature verses from the epistles of Sts Peter and Paul, teaching us how to live holy lives; while the younger children brainstormed Christian virtues, which can be read on the smaller fish.

May God always bless and protect our children and their lives in the Church. Amen.

Yours in Christ,

+ Metropolitan Basilios
