1 Appointment of Father Geoff Harvey as a Chaplain of Monash University Parish Priest of Good Shepherd Mission, Father Geoff Harvey, has been appointed as an honorary part time chaplain of Monash University, Clayton Campus. The presence of Orthodox Chaplains on the universities in Australia has been sadly lacking for most of the last 150 years and most Australian Universities still never see any Orthodox priest or deacon. Although it is only a small start in terms of total numbers of university students in Australia, it is a large start for the Australian Orthodox Church. The Antiochian Orthodox Church in Australia expresses gratitude for the privilege granted and the trust expressed by Monash University Administration and Chaplaincy. Perhaps the most notable permission granted is for Father Geoff and the Good Shepherd Parish to use the University chapel at Clayton every Sunday morning to offer Divine Liturgy, thus widening the ministry of the parish to serve staff, students, and visitors as well. A special Divine Liturgy will commence at 10am on Sunday 22 October 2006 at the Monash University Religious Centre, Wellington Road, Clayton, metroMelbourne, to pray for all students who start exams the following week. All interested are welcome.
