Want to study Orthodox Theology in Melbourne?

The Melbourne Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies (MIOCS) was established in 2003, with a view to offering the tertiary teaching of Orthodox theological studies to both Orthodox and non-Orthodox people.

MIOCS is an affiliate body of the University of Melbourne, through its United Faculty of Theology (UFT) at Ormond College in Parkville, Victoria.

Students may study at an undergraduate, postgraduate or informal level.

Some of the topics offered are:
Introduction to Orthodoxy, Orthodox Christianity: Scripture and Tradition, Eastern Fathers and Councils of the First Eight Centuries, Immigration and the Orthodox Churches in Australia, Alexandrian Judaism and the Septuagint, and Church Slavonic.

Some of the lecturers of MIOCS are:
Professor Trevor Batrouney, Dr Christos Galiotos, and Fr Michael Protopopov.

The UFT Faculty representatives are:
Rev. Professor Robert Gribben and Rev. Dr. Duncan Reid.

Dr. Trevor Batrouney will be teaching a Unit for MIOCS this Semester 
The unit will commence on Tuesday 26 July 2005.
Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 -9.30 pm and run for 12 weeks.
Subject "Immigration and the Orthodox Church."
In the Old Arts Building, Melbourne University,  Lecture Theatre C.
The unit may be taken as part of a diploma or degree or as a separate unit at a cost of $240.
