The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was founded by St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, who came to India in A.D. 52. |
For the sake of the better and more effective administration of the global Malankara Orthodox Church, the Holy Episcopal Synod and the Managing Committee approved the reorganization of several Dioceses in 1979.
The establishment of the “American Diocese” came as a result of the hard work and tireless efforts of “pioneer” priests and lay people for the growth and development of the Malankara Orthodox Church in America.
Today, the American Diocese has grown by leaps and bounds, consisting of parishes, priests, and deacons guided by the spiritual leadership of our Diocesan Metropolitan Mathews Mar Barnabas and our Assistant Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos.
